American Steel Products Leading the Industry in a Variety of Rolling Mill Lines
The hot rolling process is only done while at extremely elevated working temperatures, hence the name “hot rolling”. It is used to break down imperfections such as billets and ingots off of flat rolled steel coils. Due to technology advances, after the process, the hot coils can either be immediately sold as is or moved to the next process of cold rolling.
The process of hot rolling starts at the high temperature ranges and is used in general to develop large deformations. As opposed to cold rolling mills which is processed with four vertical oriented rolls, hot rolling is done with two vertical rolls. It is between these two rolls that the pressure is applied and rapid speed and high temperature to reduce the material and make it stronger. Unfortunately do to the manner in which this process occurs, dimensions are not accurately obtained.
